Cardiac stress testing can be useful in identifying patients with plaque build-up in their heart arteries resulting in lack of blood supply and oxygen, in turn, to the heart muscle itself under stressful situations. The stress test can be performed on a plain old treadmill or it could be a medicated one especially for the patients who are unable to walk much. The treadmill or the medication may then be combined with an imaging of the heart using either an echocardiogram or a nuclear X-ray camera for better results.
