The Holter monitor is a portable device that continuously records the heart rhythm for up to 24 hours monitoring for normal and abnormal rhythms. The patient is requested to keep a symptom diary to establish any correlation with abnormal heart rhythms. If the 24-hourholter monitor is of low yield then the monitoring can be extended to 5-21 days using Mobile Telemetry, which essentially performs the same function over a prolonged period of time.
